Mijay Cab ("Mijay," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Mijay Cab mobile application and related ride-hailing services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect personal information when riders and drivers use Mijay Cab.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Mijay Cab as a rider or driver, we may collect account and contact information such as your name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and authentication information.

For drivers, we may collect profile and verification information such as licence details, vehicle information, identity documents, compliance documents, availability status, and account approval information.

We collect ride and transaction information such as trip requests, pickup and destination locations, route and trip history, fares, payment and wallet transactions, cancellations, ratings, and support communications.

We collect precise location information only while you are actively using the app. For drivers, this includes while the app is visible and you are online or on an active trip. This release does not collect precise location while the app is closed or not in use.

We may collect device, network, and diagnostic information such as device identifiers, IP address, app interactions, crash reports, performance data, and security logs.

How We Use Information

We use information to create and secure accounts, verify riders and drivers, match riders with drivers, provide navigation and live trip tracking, calculate fares, process payments, manage wallet activity, provide customer support, send service notifications, prevent fraud and abuse, improve reliability and safety, meet legal obligations, and analyze and improve our services.

How We Share Information

We share relevant trip, profile, and precise-location information with the rider or driver assigned to your trip when needed to provide ride matching, navigation, arrival updates, safety features, and live trip tracking.

We may also share information with service providers that help us operate Mijay Cab, including mapping and places providers such as Google Maps/Places, Firebase services, payment processors including M-Pesa or other supported payment providers, customer-support providers, diagnostics and crash-reporting providers, hosting providers, and notification providers.

We may share information with legal authorities or other parties when required by law or when necessary to protect safety, rights, property, investigate fraud, enforce our terms, or respond to a lawful request.

Retention and Security

We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business, safety, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, tax, accounting, and legal purposes. Account records are generally kept while the account is active. Trip, payment, wallet, driver verification, support, and legal records may be retained after account closure where needed for safety, dispute handling, regulatory, accounting, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures, including encryption in transit where applicable, access controls, and secure storage practices, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Choices and Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or a copy of your personal information, subject to applicable law. You may opt out of marketing communications where offered. You can manage device permissions, including location, through your device settings; location-based features may not work without the required permission.

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Mijay Cab account and associated personal data through any account-deletion option available in the app or by emailing info@mijay-cab.com. Deletion is irreversible once completed. We may retain limited information where necessary for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, safety, security, or other lawful purposes.

Children's Privacy

Mijay Cab is not intended for children under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice through the app or another appropriate method.
